right. straight to brass tacks...
the MCM run party has never appealed to me. ever. (sorry mcm people!) yeah, it's nice and local to the site and all, but really, it's a bit.... predictable.
so!
i'm investigating the possibility of creating a community run mini-event on the saturday night of each london MCM event, but before taking the plunge from event goer to event management, i was wondering if you good people would give a little input. but first, a little about the event idea...
expo is in london. we all know that. and london has far more to offer than the norm to have parties in. i attended an event this weekend which had a thames boat party, and it was amazing. the boat had two interior decks (seated lower and dancefloor upper) and an upperdeck for those who love fresh air and nicotine. the party ran for 4 hours and was generally amazing.
here's the idea.
we steal the format.
i've roughly priced it up, and while it is more expensive than the hotel party, it's a BOAT party. how cool? real cool. the capacity would be 250 heads, so what i'm thinking is make it so we overshoot the expense a bit to cover us, and any left over dosh we give to a nice deserving charity. per head, i'm estimating it will cost £15-£20, but that is a very provisional estimate.
i dunno if we all really have time to set it all up for may, but i'm certainly hoping we could club together and get this thing up and running for october 2010.
to give you an idea, the boat went as far as london bridge, turned around, passed where we'd set off from in canary wharf and went really far past several noteable locations such as the houses of parlement, the O2 arena, etc etc.
so, input please! remember, this is a community run project (essentially the same as a quazar meetup but with a little more pre-organization and cash needed) and we need 250 of you good people to make it work. if it does, it will certainly be a reoccuring thing (possibly even an out of expo event).

please please tell people you know about this idea. please add input. right now (because of various issues) it's looking like october before something can be organized, so we have plenty of time.

i've been a bit cryptic about it to date, and people have been asking... (and it's getting confusing for people who do know what to say to people who don't/mightn't. it was never a secret, i just never tend to yell about such things.)
time to clean the issue up!
about a month back, i nervously confessed my feeling towards karen (fatkraken) and in much relieving and elating response my feelings were accepted.
we've been on a couple of dates/stop overs, i'm really happy, and everything's all good. i feel we're a pretty good match on pretty much every level, we're both very creative, we bounce ideas off each other, chat about our respective knowledge, etc etc.
without subjecting you poor people to too much mush, i'm feeling things i've not felt for a while. i'm really happy and content that it's all going in the right direction. we're taking fairly slow for now, which i think (hope, haha) is a mutual feeling (i've had some pretty bad experiences in the past =x )
so yes! there we are. :D

that is what i'm going to be telling myself for days now...
so... i did the fibreglass mothermould today for bri #2... followed the instructions on the tin... added the catalyst... yum yum nice runny resin...started painting it all on etc etc all going well... till 45 mins in or so the whole fucking tub of resin set. urgh... fibreglass n00b attack. hopefully i've rescued it from the brink, i hope... i really want to actually make a successful head already, i've been making this one part for like 3 months now x_x
in other news, things are looking a bit hopefull at work, there's rumblings about overnights becoming available, so maybe i can go back to another degree in the new year. probably know more tomorrow.
anyways, it's late/early/whatever. i'm tired, so i'm going to sleep and hoping that in the morning cast #2 is all good and not a waste of time. more tomorrow.

[Link] | ok, so the whole updating thing has been fairly.... ok, completly not done for ages.
lots have happened since my last update. i've moved back in with my folks till i can get onto another course (which will take atleast 2 years to save for) but all is well i guess.
i've been repeating my insane work overkill again in the hopes i can build up enough cash to get a few bits and bobs in time for completing bri's head. i also have some tabs i need to clear, but the way everything is going, i should be able to sort them out comfortably.
on the subject of bri, the second (yes... second. try #1 failed in an "it was kyuu size" way) sculpt is under about 15 layers of latex now. that's half way... sigh. this bit is so tedious and boring, but i can't speed it up in any way. frustrating? yes. but the end result is going to be worth it.
i've been thinking about buying a new airbrush. the one i have is good enough... but i want better. one with a dual action. specifically, an aztek-testors one, becaue they rock supposedly. it can wait for now tho.... no need for an airbrush if i've not got anything to actually paint!.
i'll try to keep this thing updated more... ehehe

[Link] | little bit of procrastination from bri today (although i did almost get all 7 lenses complete for his "eyes" at work). i bought fable 2, which is turning out to be all that the first game promised, but never delivered. loving it so far!
planning to possibly do the alginate headcasting sometime this coming week. i won't deny it's sounding like a scary process, but i'm 100% sure that it's the only way i'm going to pull off bri's head without it looking crappy. i'm sure embarrasing photos of me looking like something from a 60's b-movie will follow...
still waiting on a mail back from the american guyver cosplayer about paint. i'm guessing that he probably uses something like radio controlled car body paint because it's flexible, but who knows... hopefully he'll contact me back soon enough.
i also bought a new ideas/designs sketchbook for the project today, it's a little A6 leatherbound thing like the ones i usually buy.... only smaller. more pics from that when i do them!

[Link] | yo! i don't usually do posts like this, but there's something in my RL right now that's pissing me off.
a few weeks ago i got together with a fairly long term friend, and we're getting along really well. we love each other a lot and stuff.
cut to the chase...
3 years ago, she had a baby boy. he's a bright little guy, lovely big smile, generally wonderful.
enter daddy.
daddy is a fucktard. for the sake of ease of typing, we'll call him Jimbo. he has no concept of bathing, no concept of the meaning of yes or no, he's a fat lazy bollock, he values his xbox over his child, etc, etc... you get the idea. i'll point out at this point that pre-baby, he was playing "mr nice".
since the boy was born, (because the relationship was in a rocky place by that time) the deal was that he paid £10 a week maintainance (approx $20). not much eh? he was given the option to cut and split, but he insisted that he wanted to be a part of the boy's life, which he is when he wants to be (ie, when his xbox live gamer score is greater than his flatmate's). he still insists that he wants to be part of the kid's life, but for the last 6 months he's not paid a penny, promising every week that he'll get up to date "next week".
a few weeks ago, shortly after me and my friend got together, when i wasn't around and he was "visiting" the boy, he tried to force my partner. i was fuming when i found out, but stayed as composed as possible since nothing more than him trying to pin her against a wall happened. a week later he tried it again via suggestion "for old time's sake". again, i fumed, but again, since nothing happened, i diddn't kill him.
last night i was in A+E for over 2 hrs with my partner. the boy had woken up late in the night crying and complaining that his legs were really sore. since he'd been complaining about it for a bit we decided that it was the best thing to do. after the visit Jimbo was informed and such.
this morning rolls around...
thursdays are "visit" days. Jimbo's supposed to show up at about 9.30-10.00am and see the boy for a few hours before the boy pops off at 12pm to his grans for a weekly visit, and me and my partner get a day and night to ourselves.
9.30 rolls around... no Jimbo.
10.00... no Jimbo.
11.... no jimbo
11.55 the boy's lift arrives to take him off to grans for the day/night
12.05 my partner phones Jimbo...
"uh... i've only just got up." (read "i was playing xbox all last night and that's more important than keeping my promise to my 3 yr old son to see him one of the two times a week that i can be bothered to get off the xbox and off my fat sweaty rump and exectute the basic parental responsibilities that i demand to be responsible for, but never can be actually bothered")
...
i can't explain how much i want to help this bastard have a very permanent "accident". he owes almost £300 for the kid's upkeep, can be arsed to see the kid, but still demands to be "the dad". my hate for him might be amplified by the fact that i've never had to deal with this sort of thing so close, but still.... what a fucker. Jimbo, i want to hurt you in the face.

[Link] | so, anyways! yesterday i had this shindig on RO where horror of horrors i finally 99ed my oldest character (well, technically Irry is my oldest, but she's been remade a dozen times, so doesn't count. sorry blondie.) so now i'm the proud owner of a pink! archer to-be-sniper. yay!
4 hrs of lvling (solo!) got me to 56/41 (and a bit) so i'm not in the least bit daunted about taking her to job 50.
once i'm all done and sniperised i'll make a vid out of all my fraps footage and youtube it, till then, yay! archer again!
there is one thing that i'm really sad about, and that was i couldn't contact alpha and tell him about it. Sephey (my hunter) was the whole reason i met everyone in Nocturne in the first place. and even tho everything ended up bad thanks to one bad egg, my time there was great, and i made some awesome friends. i just feel a little sad that they are all drifting away now.
anyways, face forward and take everything head on! times change, and the past is past.

[Link] | well, dangit. last time i had a lvl 98 character on RO i had it to 99.9% in less than a week. this time, i have a character that can yield more exp per hr, access to a HP to slave/inn warp myself and plenty of zeny to afford inn lvling, she's at 52% and it's taken.... 3 weeks? seriously, why can't i get into the groove this time round?
but whatever, 48% more and i have a sniper! yayay! (well, a lvl 99 hunter to be sniper anyways) i guess it's time to buy those TT gears? =/
nothing much else to say really, life is trundleing on as usual more or less. i'm undecided if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but w/e. come what may.
